Bulletin Board

This was my first year doing bulletin board for Lads to Leaders. I really enjoyed it and plan on doing it next year!

Insults

Everyone has been insulted before. If someone says they haven't then that's not true. Insults are a whole lot like bullying. People do it to make themselves feel better. When we get insulted we should just take it with a smile and walk away. Have you ever heard the phrase kill them with kindness? That is exactly what you will be doing by smiling and walking away. Don't worry if people insult you. You know what's true or not.

Being a Teenager

Being a teenager is really hard, but think about how hard it is to be a Christian teenager. Teenagers don't get a lot of encouragement. I am really lucky to always be around a bunch of Christian people. When I am at church, I have my whole church family looking out for me. Then while I'm at school I have my softball coach looking out for me because he goes to a Church of Christ also. Teens get discouraged easily, but my Christians friends don't give me the opportunity to do that. They give me the opportunity to be able to learn more about the Bible and to grow up to be the best Christian young lady that I can be.

Gossiping

According to Wikipedia the definition of gossiping is idle talk or rumor. Gossiping is wrong and hurtful! We have all participated in gossip in sometime during our lives whether intentional or not. To talk about someone behind their back and to start lies about them is really childish. Gossiping ruins people's lives. It breaks people down causing them to struggle to get back up. People will believe everything they here whether it's actually true or not. We live In a day and time where if someone don't like someone else then they will tear them down and you gossiping to do it. How would you feel if someone started a lie about you or went around and spread layout private personal business? You wouldn't like it so what makes you think other people would?

Steryotypes

Have you ever been steryotyped? I know I have! I get steryotyped for being in band, going to a minority school, being an athlete, being blonde, and being an only child but the one I get steryotyped for the most is being a Christian. Just because I'm in band don't mean that I'm a geek. Just because I go to a minority school don't make me or the people in it any less of a human being. I might be a athlete but I'm not stuck on myself. Not all blondes are stupid, and yes blonde jokes do get annoying and offensive. Being an only child doesn't mean I get everything I want. CHRISTIANS AREN'T FREAKS. People think just because I say I'm a Christian that I think I'm better then everyone else, that I'm weird, and some kind of religious freak. No Christians aren't any of these. Christians are people that are a part of the Church of Christ. They go to church and try their best to follow God's commands. Christians aren't hypercrits and they don't go with the crowd. Christians believe that Jesus is the son of God and that God has been here from the begining. They believe that God created us not evoulution. If you acted like you are steryotyped then you wouldn't even know who you are. You would loose yourself in all the caous. God made you exactly the way he wanted. Not everyone is the same! People have different interests and just because they might not like the same things as you doesn't make you any better then them. So stop making steryotypes and make friends instead! We all know that being steryotyped hurts so help stop them from being dished out!

Busy

Busy busy busy I'm always busy. Between band, softball, school, and church. I feel like I go 90 to nothing. I'm hardly ever home. Are you this busy? Some people might think I'm involved in too much but I don't. I love everything I do and try to put my all in to everything.

Best Friends

Do you have best friends? I personally have 4 best friends. We might argue and fight sometimes but we are still here for each other. We hang out all the time and sometimes they even come to church with me sometime. We have tons of fun. When we have best friends we need to use that opportunity to teach them the gospel. So try to take them to church the next time your church has church services.

Struggles

I struggle with geometry, chemistry, expressing my feelings, being a good example, being the oldest in my youth group, and being a teenager. We all have struggles. Some more then others. The thing that we can't do though is let the struggles overtake us. When we start experiencing what we consider as our struggles whether they are worldly or Godly we always need to turn to God. God will help us get through these things. He will help me be a better example and with being the oldest in my youth group. What are your struggles?

Making New Friends

Making new friends for some people is never easy. On the other hand there are some people that are very good at it. Recently I went to Exposure with Blackwater Church of Christ. I was really scared and thought that I wouldn't know anyone. When I got there I actually was able to make tons of friends. When you are making friends you need to be yourself. Just remember God made you how he wanted you to be and that's how you need to act while trying to make friends. Just keep God in your heart.

College

A few months ago I signed up for a program to help me find the perfect college. Yes I am only a sophomore in high school but soon I will be graduating. I have already gotten letters from 3 colleges. Hopefully soon I might get one from a Christian college like Faulkner or Freed Hardmen.

Christmas

Well there is three days until Christmas! I am so excited! During this time of year everyone is making list of things that they want or think they need. People are coming in town to visit family that they hardly ever get to see. Food is cooked and songs are singed. But have you ever thought about the children and adults that don't have families, money, won't get presents, or have food on Christmas day? We all expect to get things during this time of year but some people won't even get a Merry Christmas. There are kids in orphanges that won't get a gift for Christmas. Christmas shouldn't always be about getting things it should be about giving to people less fortunate then yourself. Think about that in the next three days.

Bullying

Have you ever bullied someone or seen someone being bullied? If you are mean, hit, talk about, or leave out someone then you are bullying them. People kill themselves because of bullying. Would you be able to live knowing your the reason why someone killed themselves? No matter how many times you apologize for bullying someone the scars will always be there. So next time, before you say or do something mean think about if you were that person. Plus, if you just stand around and watch someone be bullied you are just as guilty! Bullying is WRONG!!! I wrote a poem I would like to share with you all. Mean words do hurt as we walk through this world. They will last in our hearts. Mean words will never part.

Singing

I love singing! I have been into singing since I was in elementary school. I used to be in choir. I really like to sing church songs. My favorite church song is Someday. The Bible tells us in Psalms 100:2 to "come before his presence with singing." If it's commanded in the Bible to sing then it must be a great thing. So how about you? Do you like singing? What's your favorite church song?

Competitions

This year me and my school band have been traveling to competitions. We haven't been able to do this in the past because we haven't had uniforms. Now that we are going to competitions we are getting our name out there to everyone. We are doing that by performing with class, dignity, and respect. This is the same thing we have to do with getting God's word out to the world. We need to go out and do it with class. Don't stoop to everyone elses levels when they call you names and say other inapproiate when you bring up the Bible. Next do it with dignity. Don't do or say anything that would shame yourself or your parents. Then there's with respect. No matter who you are trying to teach God's word everyone deserves to be treated with respect. You don't need to go into talking to someone thinking that no matter what this person better go along with what you have to say. If we didn't show respect at band competitions and football games do you think we would get invited to anything else? Probably not........

Sweet 16

Last Friday I turned 16! I was so excited! I got to have my four bestfriends stay the night and then I had a surprise birthday party. When I was laying in bed that night so thankful for everything I had gotten I thought about something. I am really lucky I made it to the age 16. There is a lot of people in this world who didn't make it to this age. A lot of kids my age have lost their life due to sickness, shootings, or murders. When I thought about this it made me reexamine how I am living my life.
